autumn

He was bound in old kings and ancient writs
in the rise of weary men
to the fall of a dire act.

He had cried at the death of the soldier
he lamented at the pass of a tyrant
he mourned for the ill of the slave.

With thunder he screamed
with anger he quaked
with mercy he sang

All in hunger
all in need
all in haste

He awoke.
