Cover of the Week (or Cover of Week to provide a more entertaining acronym):

I like how I say "of the week"... as if I do this every week. Or will continue to do so. But anyways, in my recent binge of comicry this was a cover that stood out to me and made me really want to read what happens therein: the functional purpose of a cover.

It took me quite a bit of research to discover the cover artist but I finally found somewhat convincing confirmation that the pencils were Rick Leonardi.

Unfortunately the image isn't the best. I've tried to find better. And it is illustrated in such a way that all the details are small anyways. This post won't do it justice.

I think the background could have used some better quality to create more atmosphere. Though the minimal color and distraction is important to push the characters to the viewer. Each of the characters is also adding something into the picture, excepting Doug and 'Lock, who kinda got shoved aside. The image probably should have gotten swung a bit to make Doug at least look finished, even if not entirely in the shot. I think I would have gone with a more puddle-y image for Warlock as well. Something to get across the vibe differently than the other characters and still in character. So technically I still think this cover could have been better, but overall it draws the eye and the mind. Hopefully someone else enjoys it.

I am a sucker for a good cover.

To quote the immortal movie, Twister;

Jo: [cow flies by in the storm] Cow.
[cow flies by in the storm]
Jo: 'Nother cow.
Bill: Actually I think that was the same one.

Looking forward to more COWs.

My eye and mind was drawn in by the Spidey in the lower left corner. =D

Well, with the size and quality of the image alongside the scale of the characters on the cover, the spidey image is the most distinct. As well as the better known character/visual. The image obviously has more effect if you have some connection, hopefully emotional but even just knowledge would do, with the Mutants New.
